International Qualifications
Professional qualifications obtained overseas muist comply with the quality standards for practising in Ireland. The requirements can be found in our Training Provider Code of Practice parts 5.0, 8.0, 9.0, 10.0 and 12.0. The full Training Provider Code of Practice can be found on our website here.
One of the main areas where international qualifications don’t meet Irish standards, is that training for clinical practice must include at least 50% of tuition hours in person and all competency assessment must be in-person. This is in keeping with international standards for training in holistic massage, to ensure the quality of the assessment and integrity of the training provided.
Training for sound as an enhancement to meditation may be completed wholly online in most cases, especially if you already have another holistic qualification, as the assessment criteria is so different.
If you have already obtained your sound therapy qualifications overseas, and your qualification doesn’t meet the requirements for practice in Ireland you may be eligible to complete further training in Ireland with a short course. If you already hold another holistic qualification, one of the many CPD short courses available from our Approved Training Providers (or other training provider) may in fact be all you need to increase your in-person tuition hours. It could be very easy to comply so please give us a shout.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have. We will work with you to assist you to understand the requirements for practising as a practitioner of therapeutic sound in Ireland.

Training providers who offer in-person training in Ireland are invited to register as a SHAI approved training provider. Please see our “Training Provider Code of Practice” page for more information and email us with any questions you might have.
